Haka House Hostel Tekapo - Lake Tekapo

I had a great stay at YHA! the common areas were clean and well maintained. My room was spacious with its own ensuite, and the ventilation was good. the bathroom was big with a nice shower. the views from the common area were lovely, especially overlooking the lake. the location was fantastic, and I had a wonderful time stargazing at night. the staff were friendly and provided excellent customer service. They even recommended a great restaurant for me to dine in. Cons: Liked everything! 😊.

We had an amazing experience staying at this new hostel with breathtaking views of the lake. the location was perfect, and the shared amenities were well-maintained. the kitchen was stocked with little extras like seasonings and oil, making it convenient for cooking. Our room was clean and offered a great view of the lake. the staff was friendly and efficient, even responding promptly to our messages before our arrival. We loved the comfortable beds with built-in lights and powerpoints. this hostel had something to offer for all types of travelers, and we would highly recommend it. Cons: Nothing, all excellent! 👌.

Prime location by the lake with fantastic views. Conveniently close to shops, supermarket, and popular attractions such as the Dark Sky building and Church of the Good Shepherd. , great service from friendly and helpful staff.

Some noise from families/children in the communal areas, especially during the day. Understandably, this is expected and cannot be prevented.

We stayed at Yha for a week and it was absolutely fantastic. The facilities were top-notch, with a spotless and well-maintained environment. The location was perfect, ideal for both families and couples. Every bed had convenient features like wall outlets, lights, and personal cupboards. The bathrooms were always stocked with fresh towels and the kitchen was spacious and clean. The staff at the reception were friendly, knowledgeable, and always willing to help. And let's not forget the breathtaking lake view and the stunning sunrises that added an extra touch to our stay.

As young holiday goers, we loved the brand new facilities at this hostel. the bunk beds were incredibly comfortable, giving us the best night's sleep. the kitchen was fully equipped and the dining area had stunning views of the lake and mountains. the staff were friendly and helpful, giving us great tips on the best walks and activities in Tekapo. the location was perfect, with easy access to shops, restaurants, and the Dark Sky Project. the spacious common areas provided ample opportunities to socialize and meet new people.

stayed in lake tekapo before, but yha surpassed my expectations. their unbeatable lakefront location, stunning views, and well-equipped kitchen made for a fabulous stay. highly recommend!

The location of the hostel is fantastic, right on the lakefront and close to all eating places. the views of the lake and mountains from the communal kitchen and dining area are stunning. the hostel is clean and well-equipped, with spacious rooms and ensuite toilets.

Neat, well-stocked rooms with basics like salt, pepper, and spices. Sufficient cutlery and dinnerware. Great central location offering spectacular lake views. Super clean and cozy rooms with big lockers for luggage storage. Friendly and helpful staff.

The views from our room were absolutely stunning, with a beautiful waterfront view that took our breath away. the shared kitchen and lounges were spacious and well-equipped, making it easy for us to prepare our meals and relax with other guests. We also appreciated the USB chargers by each bed and the roomy lockers for our belongings.

Although the hotel had many positive aspects, there were a few drawbacks. the walls seemed quite thin, as we could hear every door nearby open and close, as well as conversations happening in the hostel.

Beautiful views, well-maintained hotel, clean facilities, helpful staff, well-equipped kitchen, spacious common areas.

Nothing not to love.
